High Tails was born out of a deep passion for pets and a frustration with the cookie-cutter approach to pet care.
We wanted to create something different—a place where every pet feels loved and understood, and every owner feels confident and supported. Our mission is simple: to elevate the standard of pet care by offering services that are as unique as the pets we serve.
We believe in creating a true sense of community. At High Tails, your pet isn’t just another guest; they’re family. From personalized playtimes to cozy nooks for relaxation, we’ve crafted a space where tails wag, paws prance, and every pet feels at home.

MEET DEBBIE
Lifelong animal lover and advocate for exceptional pet care.
For over two decades, Debbie has been passionate about working with animals. Her diverse experience includes management at an animal welfare and rescue organization, being a professional pet groomer who has mentored dozens of novice groomers and running High Tails Pet Resort since it's inception. This background in helping animals with special behaviour considerations led Debbie to create one of the most inclusive dog boarding, grooming and training facilities in Alberta. Passionate, knowledgeable and genuine, she is dedicated to maintaining a thriving environment where pets, their humans and her team feel genuinely cared for.
Debbie began her professional career as an educator. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Education with a major in science. Because of her early interest in education and science Debbie has maintained a lifelong commitment to professional growth. Debbie is a Supporting Member of the International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants. She regularly attends animal behaviour conferences and seminars. She has invested enormous amounts of time in learning all she can about animal health and regularly consults with veterinarians on the best practices for her business and clients.
Furthermore, Debbie has created a curriculum and has taught many professional groomers how to safely handle, groom and care for pets. Debbie believes in low stress handling and educates her entire team at High Tails about animal body language, husbandry and behaviour. She regularly sends her team for ongoing professional development with experts in their various fields to ensure the entire High Tails team is current on the best practices in our industry.
When Debbie is not at High Tails, you’ll find her enjoying the great outdoors with her Australian Shepherd, cat, donkeys and horses. Whether it’s hiking, boating on the lake or unwinding by a campfire, she treasures her time surrounded by her human and animal family.
Debbie strongly believes in being a supporting member of the pet community. She regularly supports rescue groups, charities and her team in making a lasting impact on the lives of animals. At High Tails Pet Resort, Debbie’s goal is simple: to be the very best she can be, offering expertise and heartfelt care that truly makes a difference for pets and their people.
