Dog Parkour

Did you know the Dog Parkour is a real structured activity that many dogs around the Calgary area love to partake in? Dog Parkour focuses on teaching our dogs to interact with obstacles found around them via going into, under, around or on top of. The International Dog Parkour Association are the founders of dog parkour and focused it around dogs being able to join them while doing human parkour. Both human and dog parkour focuses on the individual learning through movement to build up their bodies abilities in various ways. The best part about parkour is it can be as easy or complex as you wish to make it. Calgary Dog Parkour has taken some classes to high tails to help students learn how to safely explore and learn with their dogs. Practising parkour in the real world and in classes is known to build confidence, focus and body strength in a fun and relaxing set up.

 

 

 

 

 


DOG PARKOUR INTRO

Dates: Nov 17, 24, Dec 8 and 15th – No Class Dec 1st — Class Time 6:45pm
$150+gst for 4 weeks
Dog Parkour is a low-pressure activity that celebrates each team’s abilities and strengths. Dogs of all shapes, sizes and temperaments can really enjoy parkour during their everyday life. Throughout this 4 week class we will explore the skills required to achieve your dogs Dog Parkour Introductory title through the International Dog Parkour Association. Dogs will learn to get into, onto, under and go across obstacles and handles will learn how to appropriately support their dogs while doing so. Pakour is known to increase your dogs confidence, help them focus and be a bit more attentive during walks and is a great all around exercise for our dogs minds and bodies.

 


 

DOG PARKOUR SKILLS

Dates: Nov 3, 17, 24, Dec 1, 8 and 15th – No Class Nov 10th – Class Time 5:30pm
$225+gst for 6 weeks
Pr-requisite: Dog Parkour Intro Class

Dog Parkour is a low-pressure activity that celebrates each team’s abilities and strengths. Dogs of all shapes, sizes and temperaments can really enjoy parkour during their everyday life. Throughout this parkour skills class we will be focusing on 3 different skills – Ins, Arounds, and Back up. We will start with the basic understanding needed for all three skills and add more complexity to the behaviours through distance, distractions, and duration. These skills are all appropriate for dogs of any age or body condition. By adding complexity to these skills our dogs will be able to strengthen their understanding and be able to continue learning and performing these skills in different situations.

 

 

 

 

 


 

Our Dog Parkour Classes are taught by Janilee Benell CPDT-KSA, CTDI

Janilee Benell, CPDT-KSA, CBATI-KSA, CTDI started out with a passion for helping reactive and fearful dogs reach their fullest potential. In 2016, she competed for the first time with one of her dogs in WCRL Rally obedience. Since then, she has gone on to title four very different dogs in multiple venues and sports. One of her favorite things is watching a team learn and grow together through formal obedience type skills.
