The disturbing image you see to the left is a photograph of a cat's nail that has grown into the pad. The pad is swollen, sore and badly infected. This kitty came in for grooming. We sent him to the vet to get this nail looked after in addition to
3 other nails like this one.
How does this happen? Animals have an unbelievably high pain tolerance so don't always tell us when something is wrong. Check over your pet's entire body regularly for abnormalities.
This winter we experienced a great number of nail traumas in the kennel. Long nails catch on the chain link and also in the ice during play time. Before taking your pooch to a boarding facility ensure their nails are as short as possible or simple have us trim them for you.
